Does this mean I GAINED weight?!?!

Today is 8 weeks from my plastics.  I got on the scale at work today as I do every Monday and Thursday and it read what I expected it to read - a .5 lb weight gain - always a bit up after I am drinking for the weekend.   No big deal.  What I AM questioning is that the surgeon told me that he removed 8 pounds of skin, I weigh the same as I did prior to surgery.  Does that mean I gained the 8 pounds?  Is it too early to worry about it?

I really AM very comfortable at my current weight which hovers between 151.5 and 156.  I woulkd love to see 149 just to say that I got below 150, but a size 8-10? All is good.  Just really wondering if I should be concerned?  Any thoughts?

Although I have no first hand knowledge in the subject, I would imagine that it takes longer than 8 weeks for the cut tissue to rebound and you probably are retaining fluid.  Hopefully someone else who has first hand knowledge will chime in with a answer.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

I am really not all THAT concerned - I was just curious.  I keep asking the doctors all these silly questions - and I will continue - I was just wondering if folks here had any insight.  I will see them today.  Thanks! :)

Yeah, I have a thought...THAT BITES!!! If I had 8 pounds of skin removed I would totally want to see it on the scale. I also don't think you could possibly have gained 8.5 pounds in that much time. (unless you were drinking butter shooters)

Is this the first time since your surgery that you've weighed yourself? Did you NEVER show the 8 pounds lost? cuz' if you didn't, my guess would be that you still need to give yourself more time for recovery n stuff. It took us a long time to recuperate after the RNY surgery, you may still need to give yourself time for your plastics.

I'd probably call the nurses from the surgeions office and ask them tomorrow too. They are a wealth of knowledge.

Sadly - the were NO butter shooters for me the last two months - but....hhhmmmm...sounds yummy! :)  I have been weighing myself pretty regularly since I got back to school.  It never showed the 8 pounds lost, so its not like the scale is moving in the wrong direction, I just thought it would have come off - I was never really good at being a person who can wait to see the results!  and you are right - it did take months for our insides to really heal after the surgery even though we felt pretty good, so I am more than likely just being impatient!  I am going to see the doctors today and will check with them.

Thanks!

Steffi,

PUHLEEZE! I would LOVE to weigh between 150 and 156!! I wouldn't sweat it!! You look amazing! Now, stop worrying! I think Nan is right that you might be retaining water and still healing.

Have a great day!

I am actually pretty comfortable with my body and my weight - I was just more worried that I haven't done anything stupid without realizing it.  Thanks for the kudos!  About 6 months ago I was starting to panic about picking a goal weight and figuring out what to do when  I got there, if I got there - however, having been at this same weight for about 4-5 months - I am feling pretty good and relatively in control...things that I have not felt in a very long time - especially for an extended period of time!  YAY!  Thanks for thinking about it! :)
